Upcoming Events
The Task Force stages events to:
- Advance toward its goals and educate in
an enjoyable manner.
- Raise funds and recruit.
Some WATF events follow.
- March 1990 dinner to celebrate the
Smithsonian's selection of Washington Dulles for its NASM
expansion (first inspired by the Task Force's predecessor in
1981). Attendance was approximately 900.
- October 1992 "Canapés with the Concorde"
to demonstrate the broad range of airline service at Dulles and
to recognize British Airways the regions longest serving
international carrier. Attendance was approximately 600.
- July 1993 "Celebrate Cargo" to dedicate
the quadrupling of cargo capacity at Washington Dulles, promote
air cargo to the public, and Dulles to shippers. Attendance was
approximately 500.
- June 1995 "777 World Inaugural" of
United's all new 777 aircraft to raise our market's visibility
with United Airlines and the world. Attendance approximately
1,200.
- June 1997 "Celebrate Carrington" to
provide a public forum in which to formally recognize our
founder's 16 years as Chairman of the Task Force, and to
formally welcome his successor, Stan Harrison. Attendance was
approximately 500.
- September 1997 "Atlantic Coast Airlines (ACA)
Jet Debut Celebration" to project the dramatic increase in
service offered by the regional jet. Attendance was
approximately 800.
- May 1999 "The American Commemoration of
the Berlin Airlift" to promote heavy airlift as a strategic
mission and humanitarian service to the public, the Congress,
and the leadership in the Nation's Capital on the occasion of
the 50th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift. Attendance was
approximately 850.
- June 2000 "Celebrate Dulles and National"
to honor the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority's
achievements in conceiving, financing and executing a $2 billion
Capital Development Program to rebuild National and to
successfully position Washington Dulles for growth.
- July 2001 "Celebrate Transportation" to
honor The Honorable Frank R. Wolf, John Marriott, J. Kenneth
Klinge and Leonard S. "Hobie" Mitchel whose leadership, example
and patient hard work was critical to the progress now being
made with surface transportation projects of strategic
importance to the future prosperity of our region.
- May 2002 "Celebrate Prosperity" to honor
the 20 year anniversary of the Washington Airports Task Force.
- May 2003 "Eyes on the Skies" to salute
America's Air Traffic Control.
- June 2005 "Celebrate General Aviation" celebrating an
integral part of the nation's air transportation.
- August 2007
"Celebrate the Past, Salute the Future" to honor the 25th
anniversary of the Washington Airports Task Force
- August 2008
"The Dulles Corridor: Evolution of a 21st Century Main Street"
Breakfasts, Luncheons and Dinners are
organized for specific purposes, as the occasion warrants, often in
conjunction with other groups with whom we seek cooperation. |
