Who
is the WATF?
Mission Statement
The Organization
The Washington Airports Task Force (Task Force)
is a non-partisan non-profit, 501(c)(3) Virginia
Corporation dedicated to promoting the expansion
and enhancement of aviation services for
Virginia and the National Capital region.
The mission of the WATF is to:
-
promote the growth of passenger, cargo and other
aviation services at Washington Dulles
International Airport (Dulles) and the
convenience of service at National Airport in
order to stimulate sustained prosperity for the
region they serve,
-
support the creation of related infrastructure
necessary for this mission,
-
promote the convenience and safety of air travel
for the traveling and shipping public, and
-
position Dulles as the location of choice on the
United States' East Coast for domestic and
international air service expansion among the
world's airlines.
Method
-
To use the capabilities of our membership to
bring individuals and organizations together in
common purpose and to leverage their resources
to achieve common goals.
-
To recognize that no single government agency,
organization or individual has the power to
affect needed change on their own.
-
To involve people in aviation in order to
communicate demand between user and provider.
-
To affect change at international, national,
state, and local levels when necessary to
achieve our mission.
-
To work across national, local, and natural
boundaries to create the linkages necessary to
bring needed services to our region, to open new
markets for our members, and to add a broader,
more stable, base to our region's economy.
The Outcome
The outcome will be a region with a balanced
system of transportation, including aviation,
which enhances the quality of life of its
people, and which supports the region's
competitiveness through its ability to move
goods and people between any point on earth and
our region within a
day at reasonable cost.
