Washington Airports Task Force
Innovation - Integrity - Collaboration
Who we are
The 60-member Board of Directors comprises notable business leaders from the region’s industry who acknowledge Dulles and National airports' economic significance in driving Northern Virginia and Virginia's economies. The WATF operations, community development, industry affairs, and marketing are overseen by a committed team of professionals. In addition, the WATF administers Foreign Trade Zone #137, providing a competitive advantage to companies with locations on U.S. soil through savings on Customs duties. The organization acts as a convener for consumer, civic, and economic interests in a region where airport success is crucial for growth. The Task Force has a history of tackling complex problems for the benefit of the airports and stakeholders.
We are a regional leadership organization focused on achieving measurable outcomes. Our members recognize the crucial connection between our airports, their global reach, and our regional economy. Our fundamental belief is that businesses serving worldwide markets seek locations with optimal airport access. Although domestic tourism continues to mature, we anticipate significant expansion from foreign visitors, especially those connected through direct air service.
Revenue of Resources
The Washington Airports Task Force (WATF) receives private sector revenue through corporate sponsorships and public sector grants from the Commonwealth of Virginia, the counties of Fairfax and Loudoun, and the Town of Herndon. Additionally, WATF benefits from in-kind support from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. The WATF receives compensation for administrative services rendered in support of selected aviation-related functions and activities.
